Rotarian Carol Bateman, a member of the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach, recently offered Rotary Club of North Muskoka members an overview of Water First, a charitable organization that says it works with Indigenous communities to resolve local water challenges.

Water, sanitation and hygiene programs, she noted, are a focus for Rotary International, and our Rotary District 7010 is planning a partnership with Water First to collaborate with Indigenous communities in Canada in 2022. The partnership would leverage a Rotary International grant to fund a set number of 15-month education and training internships for interested Indigenous young adults to become certified water-system operators.

We thanked Rotarian Carol for her presentation on this important topic and look forward to more information in future.
