Rotary Club of North Muskoka members and volunteers trekked to the Huntsville Legion's commercial kitchen in March to pinch a pile of perogies for their annual handmade perogy fundraiser - with delicious results.
"Just wanted to say thanks to all of the folks that were able to help us out with the perogies yesterday and today," said Rotarian Nick, who along with his wife, Vivian, once more led the initiative. "We finished in record time!"
Club members were joined by Rotary Club of Huntsville and Rotary Club of Huntsville Evening Satellite Club members, plus family members and friends, for the two-day activity. In all, more than 200 pounds of potatoes, including some from PEI, were transformed into perogies.
The tastiest part of the day included a perogy lunch for volunteers, who we are happy to say were able to confirm the quality of their product.
And best of all, community came together for community. Funds raised will support the club's humanitarian causes, which include local child and youth food and literacy programs, summer camp adventures for children and youth who have experienced trauma or isolation, youth mental health programs offered by Muskoka Mind Aid, international aid programs like ShelterBox, and others.
Orders are being prepped and Rotarians will be in touch with all who ordered in the near future.
